Sherlock Holmes
Hans Zimmer, 2009

This was a fantastic film, with an equally fantastic sequel, both of which had an amazing score by Hans Zimmer. These covers are based on the cover for the Best Original Score promotional disc.

Bridge of Spies
Thomas Newman, 2015

With Spielberg directing, Tom Hanks starring, and Thomas Newman composing the score, this couldn't help but be a great film. Yet another Tom Newman score to enjoy, and that's always a good thing.

The Judge
Thomas Newman, 2014

Another beautiful score by one of my all-time favourite composers. This was an emotionally packed, moving, engaging film, despite being perhaps a little too long with an unnecessary subplot that could have been cut to save time. But nonetheless it was still a great film. Unfortunately (fortunately for me), yet again, this was another instance of a boring official soundtrack cover that was positively yelling to be replaced with a custom cover. So here it is:

Some epic covers for an epic score to an epic movie.

The official cover was boring. What more can I say?

Skylanders: Giants
Lorne Balfe, 2012

I've never played these games, but I stumbled upon the title track of this album a while back and fell in love with the score. The use of complex rhythms, unusual instrumentation, and unexpected chord progressions makes this score an exciting listen.

Knight And Day
John Powell, 2010

I really enjoyed this film - it was pure fun entertainment that didn't take itself too seriously, but at the same time wasn't the boring ex-machina-stuffed type. Powell is always a joy to listen to, and this score is perfectly suited for the film - never too dark or suspenseful, but just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek humour and excitement that the film requires.

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Hans Zimmer, 2002

So I finally got round to making covers for my favourite film score of all time. I cannot begin to describe how much I love this score and the film it accompanies. It contains some of the most exciting, moving, tragic, suspenseful, exhilarating, and joyous music ever written. I imagine these covers won't be the last...

The Martian
Harry Gregson-Williams, 2015

Pretty much my most-anticipated film of 2015 - and it did not disappoint. HGW's score is beautiful. The official score cover wasn't particularly inspiring, but there also wasn't a lot of other material to use, so this will have to do for now.

The Amazing Spider-Man
James Horner, 2012

So I finally got round to making one for the first film! This score is absolutely incredible, and fits the amazing film perfectly. Definitely one of Horner's greatest works.

We Bought A Zoo
Jónsi, 2011

Although the official cover was nice, I got tired of it pretty quickly. Hence this cover.

Balto
James Horner, 1995

In memory of James Horner, this score deserved a better cover than the official one. Balto is one of my favourite Horner scores, and "Heritage of the Wolf" is one of the most spine-tingling cues he ever wrote, hence Version 2 below.

WALL•E
Thomas Newman, 2008

Here is another of my all-time favourites. Thomas Newman is such an incredible composer, and this was an incredible film. Thomas' trademark atmospheric style is very apt not only for the scenes on the lonely, dusty earth but also for the vastness of outer space.

Cars
Randy Newman, 2006

Here we have one of my all-time favourite film scores. As a whole, this film has a very special place in my heart, even if I can't quite explain why. Randy Newman's score is, in my opinion, hugely underrated, as most people only remember the songs that were used in the soundtrack. Many wonderful score cues were left unreleased, and those that were released on the OST were severely edited in many places. These covers were designed with the 18-track FYC promotional release in mind, hence the wording "score", not "soundtrack".
