Toy Story 3
Randy Newman, 2010

Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise has got better and better. "Toy Story" is a hugely enjoyable classic. "Toy Story 2" improved on the original in many ways and further explored the world inhabited by the toys. Over a decade later, "Toy Story 3" exceeded all (already very high) expectations and, in my opinion, surpassed the greatness of the first two films put together. Many people called it the perfect example of a perfect film. The emotional strings were pulled harder, the stakes were raised far higher, and overall it is one of, if not THE finest example of a movie trilogy ever made. Randy Newman's scores for all three movies are wonderful, but his score for the finale of the trilogy is definitely one of his greatest works. The themes have been fully developed and explored and the new themes fit right in with the old ones and some of the best, most emotional, most tense and suspenseful, most exciting musical cues in Pixar's history are here in this beautiful score.
